hybrid gtr?

The almighty Nissan Skyline GT-R.  A car that is very dear to me personally and professionally, as a hardcore Nissan enthusiast and automotive importer.

This car was banned from Racing because it was too good and won too many consecutive races.  Now it’s seen the light and recognized the advantages available, and the next generation of GT-R is rumoured to be a hybrid.  Still AWD, still turbo, but with an extra 160HP and energy recovery to boost fuel economy toward 30MPG. It’s no surprise really, the top ten list of the fastest car’s you can buy is dominated by hybrid and electric supercars, and there are huge performance gains to be had.

This is especially true when the price tag doesn’t matter so much.  A $40K battery pack won’t work in a 20K economy car…but in supercars, a tenth of a second in the 0-60 can be worth much more than that, and this is when manufacturers go to the extreme.

I can’t wait to see what Nissan produces with the next generation of the GT-R!
