I was reading a post by a fellow EV enthusiast who raised the concerns over EV safety and their lack of “noise”. Figured I would throw in my 2 cents.

I find the issue raised against the silent nature of electric cars to be genuinely humorous.  For one, it’s a problem easily solved, and I wish we could say the same for war and pollution.

Second, it’s a common sense issue, if people aren’t paying attention, bad things will happen.

Anyone who’s driven a Mercedes, a Lexus, or a Bentley can attest that even Gas powered vehicles can be whisper quiet.

My Electric car is far from Silent, parking lot or otherwise.  It sounds different from an Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) powered vehicle, but it’s hardly unnoticeable, in fact, everyone seems to notice more than when it was loud, obnoxious, and burning gas.  Now I get smiles and thumbs up instead of scoffs and, well, you know…

It sounds like the meanest power drill you’ve ever heard;)

I do agree that unfortunate situations can arise under certain circumstances, but it’s far from an epidemic.  Nobody seems to have a problem with the 250,000+ car fires that happen in the US every year, claiming hundred of lives and damaging property.

Hmmm…no fire suppression systems have been mandated, and that WOULD save lives.
